At the last concert of his tour, Garth Brooks performed to an ecstatic crowd in Lafayette, Louisiana. Every single person in the Cajundome arena was feeling the energy that Garth was putting into the final concert.
The energy level increased as Garth started singling out people in the crowd and taking requests. But he stopped suddenly. Out in the crowd, he saw a cardboard sign that read, “Elvis Was My Last Concert.”
Taken aback, Garth Brooks moved through the crowd toward the sign and realized the person holding it was a small, elderly lady.
This special lady happened to be Miss Laura, and she is special for many reasons. A recent widow, Laura took a chance and went to the concert with her daughter and granddaughter.
But the reason was that it was Miss Laura’s 89th birthday. This woman happens to love music and she really did see Elvis Presley live over forty years ago.
Now, her concert experience was about to be topped because she received one very expected birthday gift from Garth Brooks himself.
When Garth made his way over to her, he introduced himself. “You’re 89?” Garth Brooks asks her. “You look fantastic.”
As he got to know Miss Laura, he started to serenade her and it created quite the commotion for the entire audience. Singing “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” he was worked to tears as Miss Laura had a huge smile on her face. But that wasn’t the only gift Garth gives her for her birthday.
